With only 60% of the companies reporting, the number of records breached still totaled 30,253,607 records!
 
 
250,000 companies records were breached, over 100 million credit cards records stolen every month for an unknown period of months.
 
 
Companies who identified the number of records breached include: Countrywide reporting 2,000,000 records stolen and AT&T reporting 113,000 records stolen.
 
 
Examples of companies who didn't report how many records were stolen include Wells Fargo (3 breaches), Facebook, State Farm Insurance, Verizon Wireless, Domino's Pizza, Visa, Google, and many more.
 
 
In a worldwide sting operation reported in August 2008, 11 individuals were arrested for stealing over 40,000,000 records.
